CBI files chargesheet against former DC, SEZ Surat, Mangalore in disproportionate assets case

States » SouthPosted at: Jan 30 2020 8:58PM Bengaluru, Jan 30 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has filed a chargesheet in the Court of Special Judge, Mumbai, against the then Development Commissioner, Special Economic Zone, Surat and Mangalore (now retired as Additional DGFT) and others, including his family members in the alleged disproportionate assets case. CBI had registered a case against the then Development Commissioner (an ITS officer), Special Economic Zone, Surat and Mangalore on the allegations of acquiring huge assets in his name, as well as in the names of his family members, during the period 1999 to 2016, according to a statement on Thursday. During the investigation, cash worth Rs two crore, 42 immovable properties at Mumbai, Malegaon, Nasik acquired through purchase; gifts from in-laws and 25 bank accounts were discovered from him and his family members. It was also alleged that huge amounts of cash was regularly deposited in most of these accounts. Disproportionate assets worth Rs 14.50 crore (approx) were found in his possession as on July 14, 2017.
