Tata Group companies came together to develop EV ecosystem

For the convenience of the EV buyers, the Tata Group will set up 650 EV charging stations in 20 cities across the country in the next two year. New Delhi: Tata Group is aiming to set up a complete EV ecosystem in India to take lead in the domestic e-mobility space.For this, Tata Motors has joined hands with other group companies like Tata Chemical, Tata Power and Tata Croma to develop internal synergies.Tata Chemicals will set up a battery manufacturing and recycling facility in the country with an investment of Rs 8 billion (800 Cr), revealed the company on Tuesday during the launch of Tata Nexon EV, the automaker’s first electric SUV.For the convenience of the EV buyers, the Tata Group will set up 650 EV charging stations in 20 cities across the country in the next two year.Commenting on this initiative, Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD of Tata Motors, said, “The Group has come together and is leveraging on each company’s strength. This is not the launch of just a vehicle, but the launch of an ecosystem.” Meanwhile, Tata Motors has announced that it will launch four more cars within the next 24 months, based on the Alpha platform of the company that underpins Altroz premium hatchback. Also, the automaker is planning battery-electric variants of all the models on offer in next one year.Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons revealed the strategy today during the launch of the Tata Nexon EV, the company’s first electric SUV.These upcoming Tata cars will come in all shapes like hatch and sedans as well along with other models in other segments.
